Privacy Policy

MatchSynq ("we," "our," or "us") runs pickleball sessions for organizers and their players. This policy explains what we collect when you use the MatchSynq app (on iPhone and Apple Watch) and this website, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: If you create an account, your email address and name. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive whatever Apple shares, which can be a private relay email address.
Player profile: Your display name, an optional profile photo, your skill rating, and the groups you belong to.
Session data: Sessions you organize or play in: the player names in them, matchups, scores, results, standings, and the statistics built from them.
Names other people enter: Organizers can add players by typing their name, whether or not that person has the app. Those names and their results are stored as part of the session.
Device information: A random identifier the app creates to recognize your device (not your phone's serial number or advertising ID), your push notification token, and your notification settings.
Location: Only if you allow it, and only while the app is open. Your approximate location (rounded to about 1 km) is used to show local weather for outdoor sessions. We do not store your location.
Purchases: If you subscribe to MatchSynq Pro, your subscription status and purchase history, processed by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your payment card details.
Crash reports: If the app or our server crashes, technical details about the error and your device model and software version. Crash reports do not include your name, email, or account ID.

We do not use advertising, ad tracking, or analytics services, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

2. How We Use It

To run the app: build schedules, record scores, keep standings and history, and sync sessions between the organizer's phone, co-organizers, scorekeepers, and players.
To send notifications you can control, such as being added to a session, a session starting, or a request to confirm your results.
To send sign-in codes to your email.
To provide MatchSynq Pro features you have paid for.
To find and fix problems, and to keep the service secure.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. What Other People Can See

Players in your groups and sessions can see your display name, profile photo, skill rating, results, and statistics.
Session links and live scoreboard links show the session's player names and scores to anyone who has the link.
Profile photos are stored at web addresses that anyone holding the address can open.

4. Service Providers

We use trusted providers to run MatchSynq. They process data only on our behalf:

Fly.io (app servers) and Supabase (database), in the United States
Cloudflare (profile photo storage and encrypted backups)
Resend (sign-in code emails)
Expo and Apple Push Notification service (notifications)
Sentry (crash reports)
RevenueCat and the Apple App Store (subscriptions)
Apple (Sign in with Apple)
wttr.in (local weather, using your approximate location)

5. How Long We Keep It

Account and profile information: until you delete your account.
Session results: kept as part of the shared record of sessions other people played in. When you delete your account, your profile is anonymized to "Deleted Player" and your name, photo, email, device identifier, and notification token are removed.
Backups: stored privately and kept for up to 90 days, after which they are deleted.
Sign-in codes expire within minutes.

6. Your Choices and Deleting Your Account

Delete your account in the app: Profile tab, then Delete Account. This also disconnects Sign in with Apple if you used it.
You can change your name, photo, and rating in the Profile tab, and turn notifications or location off at any time in your iPhone Settings.
Deleting your account does not cancel a MatchSynq Pro subscription. Manage it in Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
If you were added to a session by name and want your name removed, or you want a copy of your data, email us at hello@matchsynq.com.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access to our systems is restricted. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information.

8. Children

MatchSynq is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

9. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
